Patience
Not every market requires a trade. Most of the time, the right decision is to wait. We act only when conditions match what we have defined in advance, and we treat inactivity as a choice, not a failure.
Long-term perspective
Investment philosophy · Jacob Decker
Jacob Decker invests its own capital on a simple belief: that patience, selectivity and defined risk, practised consistently over decades, compound into something larger than any single good decision.
We would rather miss an opportunity than take a risk we do not understand. We would rather be slow and right than quick and lucky. And we would rather tell the truth about what we have not yet done than claim what we have not earned.
Every decision at Jacob Decker, today in FX and futures and over time in every other horizon, is tested against these five principles.
Risk & disciplineMost of the time, the right decision is to wait. We act only when conditions match what we have defined in advance, and we treat inactivity as a choice, not a failure.
Long-term perspective
We work only in markets and businesses we can explain. Narrowing the field leaves room to think clearly about each decision and to say no to everything else.
Capital allocation
Before any position, we decide how much we are prepared to lose and where we will be proven wrong. Size is set so that being wrong is survivable, every time.
Risk & discipline
We review winners as carefully as losers. A good result from a poor decision is still a poor decision, and the record is how judgement improves.
Portfolio strategy
We build for the people who will inherit this work. Short-term results matter only insofar as they protect the long-term institution.
